We were just commenting that last night it was still light at 5.30pm and still warm, it felt quite balmy and just like we were on holidays. Then a note came home about the end of term games day, that is less than two weeks away... and the realisation hit that school holidays are just about here and it is going to be amazing!
September school holidays should be everyone (with kids) favourite time to visit Port Stephens. The weather is good, the water is warming up, the days are longer, all the activities that took a Winter break are back up and running, it is not too hot for walks and bike rides and most of all it is cheaper and less crowded then Christmas.
If we were visitors to Port Stephens during the holidays this is what we would do - go on a dolphin or whale watch cruise, go sandboarding on the Stockton Sand Dunes, walk to the top of Tomaree Headland, go to the park on the Nelson Bay Foreshore or at Fingal Bay (maybe taking the bikes or scooters and also following the bike track for a while), have a BBQ at Little Beach or Dutchies Beach, treat ourselves to a big breakfast at a local cafe and throw in a fishing line (as an excuse to just sit and watch the water).
Bring on the holidays!
It's not too late to book... we have self contained properties from $365 for three nights. www.portstephensaccommodation.com
