Spring is arguably the best time to visit Port Stephens with the weather warming up, the days getting longer, the beaches looking spectacular (and uncrowded), the dolphins are still here and the whales are heading back South with their calves and all the attractions, activities, cafes and restaurants are back at full schedules and with new Spring menus and offerings.
There is plenty happening, it’s an affordable time to visit, we have a temperate climate (with average daily temperatures of 21 – 24 degrees celcius during Spring) and there are no crowds.
If you want to fill your days then get up early and walk to the top of Tomaree Headland for views up and down the coast (look out for those whales), bring your bike and set out on some of Port Stephens cycleways, challenge yourself with 9 or 18 holes of golf, visit Port Stephens attractions (Toboggan Hill Park, Fighter World, Murrays Brewery, Oakvale Farm and Fauna World), join a dolphin or whale watch cruise, go horse riding, join a 4WD tour on the Stockton Sand Dunes (or ride a quad bike) and finish up with a sunset walk along a deserted beach.
Or, use the break for total relaxation, an excuse to do absolutely nothing. Book a property with a fabulous view, bring a good book or some magazines, sleep in, settle in for long lazy brunches or lunches at local cafes and restaurants, browse through boutique shops or book in for some pampering. Don’t be in a hurry and don’t worry about the time.
